U.S. Chief in Korea Receives Note From Russian Zone's Commander

By Richard J. H. Johnston

By Wireless to The New York Times.
Seoul, Korea, Jan. 8 (Delayed)--Carrying a communication from Lieut. Gen. Chritiakoff commander of the Soviet forces of occupation in Korea, to Lieut. Gen.Hodge, commander of United States forces here,........

Communist Revises Views

Expressing fear that views voiced two days ago in a press conference might be misunderstood in the United States, Pak Heun Yung, general secretary of the Communist party here, issued this morning a "restatement of his attitute" on the questions of a trusteeship for Korea and possibility of the inclusion of Korea in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
In a conversation with me this morning Mr.Pak demanded that I "correct the impression." When I refused to do other than stand by the story written two days ago, Mr. Pak agreed that he had not been misquoted, as he originally contended, but that "language difficulties may have been responsible for the misinterpretation." (The story referred to was incomplete because of transmission difficulties and hence was not published.)
Two days ago Mr.Pak said he had "no objections to a single-nation Soviet trusteeship for his country" and that "the inclusion, after ten or twenty years of democratic development, of Korea into the Soviet Union" was a possibility.

New Version of Opinions

Mr. Pak, whose command of English is unusually good and who previously had never failed to get his ideas across clearly to the press, said he wanted to reword his opinions as follows :
"I cannot speak about the question of a one-nation trusteeship. It is not decided upon by the United Nations."
"About the incorporation of Korea into the USSR, at no time can I speak about this present or future."
"The question of socialism or sovietism in Korea cannot be discussed now."
Through mysterious and devious sources, Mr. Pak learned parts of my story of two days ago, shortly after it was filed here. Mr.Pak was unable to explain satisfactorily how he obtained the information.
