착한 짱깨는 죽은 짱깨 뿐이라는 의미이다.[1] 착홍죽홍처럼 다른 경우에도 응용된다.


이런 조어의 단초는 조지 오웰(George Orwell)의 동물농장(Animal Farm)에 나오는 스노볼의 대사 "유일하게 좋은 인간은 죽은 인간이다. (The only good human being is a dead one.)"으로 보인다.[2]
